The Emergency Relief Fund is a new initiative that the T.R.E.W Committee hope to be in a position to put in place as soon as is possible.
Through our work, there has, from time to time, arisen the situation where a horse owner is desperately trying to resolve an issue with their horse....whether it be an inability to continue to feed it while they make efforts to re home it, or they cannot afford the cost of a peaceful Euthanasia to be conducted by a Vet.
In circumstances where a horse owner is making all reasonable efforts to provide appropriate care for their horse, while at the same time, endeavouring to resolve their dilemma, and thereby ensure that the issue is not an ongoing one, T.R.E.W has at times provided the support needed in the short term.
We see a need for an 'Emergency Relief Fund', to enable other horse owners/lovers to come to the aid of such owners, and therefore, their horses. Many horse owners would personally step in in such an instance and lend a hand, and we hope that by establishing a central Fund, with strict criteria in place as regards the assessment of each individual circumstance, that horse lovers at large will have the confidence to contribute to the Fund.
This fund will allow us to better react when emergencies arise without having to consider how we are going to pay for the immediate care. It is sometimes a decision that has to be made instantly. We take care of the horse, and worry about raising the funds later. That can be a burden which affects other commitments we have.
Detailed records will be kept of the Funds expenditure, and displayed on this page, but the nature of this assistance deems that the names of those in receipt of assistance will be recorded, but will remain confidential, unless we are instructed otherwise. It is important that those requesting assistance are not discouraged to do so.
Any funds granted will not pass through the horse owners hands, but will be provided directly to the Vet, Produce Store, or other provider of assistance, the receipt coming directly to T.R.E.W.
Who knows....one day it could be any one of us.....
